City Impact Lay Leader Role Descriptions
Convener
The City Impact (CI) leadership team Convener is a Perimeter member who is responsible for bringing other Perimeter leaders and members together to address the task of extending Perimeter Church’s reach and impact in the city or geographic area in which they live. This will be accomplished by Perimeter members living out Perimeter’s vision, mission, and values where they live, work and play.
The Convener’s primary responsibility is to serve as the organizer and lay leader of the CI leadership team through its formation, organization, launch and ongoing execution. In addition, the Convener will help the leadership team develop an ongoing CI leadership team mission strategy consistent with the vision, mission, and values of Perimeter Church and a long-term leadership rotation for lay leaders on the leadership team. Along with the Perimeter Department Leads, the Convener is responsible for selecting lay leaders and ensuring that the CI leadership team operates in a servant leader manner consistent with Perimeter’s biblical worldview and leads the operations of the leadership team consistent with processes and operational procedures established with Perimeter Church.
The Convener is responsible for their City Impact Budget, and City Impact Ministry Planning, in partnership with the various Ministry Departments.

Assistant Convener
The City Impact Team Assistant Convener is a role that can be established based on the discretion of the Convener and agreement by the City Impact Director. If the Convener believes that the strategic responsibilities as well as the operational responsibilities for leading the CI leadership team may be enough given time commitments, he may want to appoint an Assistant Convener to carry out the operational leadership of the CI leadership team to an Assistant Convener, who will work with the Lay Leaders of the leadership team to ensure that all processes and procedures pertaining to
- execution is carried out in accordance and alignment with the policies, procedures, mission, and vision of Perimeter Church and
- for the effectiveness of extending our ministries into the cities for the purpose of Kingdom Flourishing. The Assistant Convener works closely with the Convener to ensure that the direction from the Convener is in alignment with the City Ministry Strategy, our biblical worldview as Perimeter Church, the City Impact Playbook, and the City Impact Operational Handbook. Key in this role is the empowering of the lay leaders in their respective roles to execute as coaches and coordinators within the processes and procedures established between Perimeter Church and the City Impact Teams.

Faith and Work Lay Leader Coach
This person will facilitate a collaborative environment of problem solving for common good within the city. He or she will seek to equip, network, and mobilize the Perimeter family within the his/her city for ministry in the arena of work as we seek to live out the implications of the gospel in our vocations. He or she will also help equip members for ministry and collaboration in different channels of cultural influence from a work perspective. Practically, this leader will help determine city-specific areas of need in the marketplace and facilitate a coordinated effort to bring about redemptive transformation.

Men’s Discipleship Lay Leader Coach
Overall, this person will “own” the vision and implementation of a multiplying discipleship movement for his respective city. He must understand and be able to apply our philosophy of thinking big, starting small, and going deep. He must understand the pathway of unbelief -> belief -> maturity-> leadership, and how each ministry on the CI leadership team facilitates people along this pathway. Practically, this leader must understand Jesus’ discipleship philosophy and corresponding training and experience with the intent of making disciples who make disciples as part of the Perimeter mission of Spiritual Multiplication.

The Duluth Men's Discipleship Coach will grow toward owning the vision and implementation of a multiplying discipleship movement for his respective city. He must understand and be able to apply our philosophy of thinking big, starting small, and going deep. He must be willing to grow in understanding the pathway of unbelief -> belief -> maturity -> leadership, and how each ministry on the CIT facilitates people along this pathway.
Qualifications:

At least 2 years of leading discipleship

Teachable, willing to grow in leadership/discipleship skills and vision.
Preferred Training Experience:
- Completed Life on Life Workshops 1-2 and/or been to Pursing the Heart and Discipleship Foundation Workshops

The Women’s Discipleship Coach for Duluth will work alongside Women’s Discipleship Coordinator to envision and implement a multiplying discipleship movement for her city. She should embrace our philosophy of thinking big, starting small, and going deep. She must understand the pathway of unbelief -> belief -> maturity -> leadership, and how each City Impact ministry facilitates people along this pathway. Practically, this leader must understand Jesus’ discipleship philosophy and corresponding training and experience.
The qualifications and responsibilities are listed below.

Qualifications: • Two years discipleship leading experience • Have completed Clinics 1-2 and/or have attended to Pursing the Heart and Selection Workshops • Strongly encouraged: Experience the Ignition group which is a Five Week study of Biblical Discipleship offered in the summer.
Key Responsibilities: • Attend monthly City Impact meeting o Focus – work to partner with other members to create a context for more holistic life on life missional discipleship experience • Gather the names of the discipleship leaders in your city
o The women’s discipleship coordinator will provide this to you o It will need to be updated in the spring and fall • Pray monthly for the discipleship leaders in your city • Lead a Discipleship Group selected within the city that models the vision o If your current group is not women in your city, next time you add or select women for your group prayerfully move towards women in your city) • Ideas to consider: o Host a time to get to know the leaders in your city o Reach out to your leaders through email. Ask if they need any support or prayer o Dream of what it would look like for your city o Reach out to Kelli for support and resources or find out how she can come alongside what you dream or envision for your city. o Come to roundtables for training/ exposure to hopefully be equipped to host in the future

Women's Ministry Lay Leader Coach
The Women’s Ministry Coach is a liaison between the Women’s Ministry offerings at Perimeter Church and what is offered in the city including Bible studies, service projects in the neighborhoods or in the community at large that are designed specifically for women and their spiritual journeys. This role also involves working with Communications to push out information on church wide as well as city centric opportunities to support and encourage women. Feedback back to Women’s ministry is encouraged in order to improve how we can support women as they grow spiritually as part of Kingdom Flourishing in the city. Key to this role is also engaging women in the community with an eye toward leading them to Christ.

Education Lay Leader Coach
The city educational coach has a heart for every child within their city reaching his or her God-given potential and believes that achieving a high school degree is a necessary component toward reaching that goal.
The CE Coach will connect with leaders within their school clusters at all levels and will maintain dialogue with them regarding ways to help students succeed. This person will inform our church of opportunities to serve where needed.
The CE Coach will work in tandem with the entire CI leadership team to coordinate efforts, to pray, serve and grow the members of Perimeter Church. Their purpose through these relationships is to engage the lost and extend our impact in the cities we live.

The CE Coach will work in tandem our Community Outreach coach and the entire CI leadership team to coordinate efforts to pray, serve and support Perimeter members as they live as the church in their city. Their purpose through these and all relationships is to engage the lost and extend our impact in the cities in which they live.

• Knowledgeable about the local schools and opportunities to support them

Welcoming Host/Connect Groups Lay Leader Coach
The Welcoming Host is responsible for helping people belong and connect to groups within their city to build relationships with others. We regard any Missional Connect Group to consist of a core group of Perimeter members who are on board with the mission and vision of Perimeter Church and the multiplication strategy set forth by the Welcoming Host/Community Groups Department and are inviting non-members of Perimeter Church into their group, through relationship and website inquiries. The goal of these relationships is to engage the lost and extend our impact in the cities we live.

City Shepherd
The City Shepherds will represent the Area Pastor, Lead Elders and Officers on the CI leadership team for the City. The City Shepherd will represent the plans and opportunities for extending our reach and impact in the city to the Area Pastor for purposes of being consistent with our biblical world view as we extend our reach and impact into the city. The City Shepherd serves an important role of shepherding the CI leadership team role and participating, along with other members of the City Impact Team, in the development and execution of Ministry Plans to extend our Kingdom Reach and Impact in their city. The City Shepherd plays a major role in understanding and leading the prayer life and the spiritual well-being of lay leaders in the city.

The Duluth City Shephard will:

Know the shepherding state of their city; Meet/touchbase with each elder in their city at least twice a year and ask: How are you doing? How is your flock doing? How can I best support you? (Help the elders of their city know and understand how City Impact is a great tool for helping them to shepherd their flock, not another “ask” for “to do” for them)

Meet with Area Pastor at least quarterly to update him on the shepherding state of their city. (Area Pastor can help with church and deacon resources as needed; funerals, meals, ministry partner resouces, etc.).

Aid in making sure that the sherpherding and care needs of their city are known and being addressed; be conduit and a catalyst.

Shepherd the Leadership Team of Each City; Pray with and for the CI leadership team.

Aid in the communications of their City Impact efforts to the Elders and their flocks; equip the Lead Elders and Elders in their city to communicate with their flocks ways to Worship, Belong, Grow, and Bless where they live. (City Impact is a great tool and provides a reason to stay in touch with and communicate with their flock; eliminates the “cold calling” of the flock).

Community Outreach Lay Leader Coach
The Community Outreach Coach is a listener, learner and lover of their city who persistently intercedes on its behalf and seeks its flourishing. The CO Coach is a natural connector who enjoys meeting new people to better understand the city and learn what assets and opportunities exist. In addition to connecting with people throughout their city, the CO Coach will work in tandem with the entire CI leadership team to pray, serve and grow the members of Perimeter Church. Their purpose through these relationships is to engage the last and extend our impact in the cities we live. The CO Coach helps to facilitate and coordinate community outreach events in the city and works within non-profit partners approved by Perimeter Church.

City Shepherdess
The City Shepherdess serves the role of representing the Shepherdess Ministry on the City Impact Team. Understanding that the majority of shepherdess relationships are highly confidential, the City Shepherdess will share appropriate information she receives from the shepherding department regarding situations that might benefit from community involvement and update the City Team on ministry events and opportunities. The City Shepherdess will be available to communicate needs brought to her attention by the CI leadership team with the Shepherding Staff for care assignments by the church. The City Shepherdess will communicate information regarding support group opportunities, widows events, and statistics shared by the Shepherding team to the City Team. The City Shepherdess will commit to praying for the City and CI leadership team and encourage the team as they labor together for the Glory of God and the advancement of His Kingdom.

Communication Coordinator
The communication coordinator is the primary City Impact liaison with the Perimeter Communications department. This person should ensure that communication of upcoming events and opportunities within the city is occurring on a regular basis within the official and organic channels. They are also responsible for ensuring these communications are consistent with the communication policies and procedures of Perimeter Church.
Qualifications:

Prayer Coordinator
The Prayer Coordinator is responsible for the administration, planning, communication, and posting of events associated with prayer events and opportunities in the city. The prayer coordinator also works to deploy prayer initiatives that may originate from Perimeter church in keeping with the Biblical messaging to our congregants from time to time. The Prayer Coordinator plays an important role in maintaining and ensuring a prayer rhythm for all lay leaders and members in the cities a foundation of radical dependance on God for the success of City Impact.

Family Ministry Coordinators
The Family Ministry Coordinators are responsible for carrying out the strategy of Family Transformation for young families, student families, and families cross generationally for the purpose of Kingdom Flourishing. In this role they are key focal points on understanding how families are integrated into the ministries of the church from a theology of place consideration from both the gathered and scattered church, since certain offerings at Perimeter Church may serve to be catalysts for extending ministries into the cities with an eye toward common ground based on various stages of the family journey. The strategy of Family Transformation is one of the three fundamental precepts in our vision “To see individuals, FAMILIES, Greater Atlanta, and the World come into a life-transforming encounter with the Kingdom of God.”

Members at Large
Given certain differences of needs and city ministries between cities, the Convener may recommend Members at Large be appointed to the CI leadership team to give ownership to a particular area of opportunity or channel of influence within the city which will enhance Kingdom Flourishing and extend our ministries. Prior to this appointment, a discussion should be done with the City Impact Director to discuss the rationale and connection of this need within the City Ministry Plan and consistent with Perimeter Church policy and worldview.
